Prof. Akgüngör is an experienced economist and researcher, with a special focus on monitoring and evaluation of projects involving rural livelihoods, social network analysis and social capital. She has published over 90 articles and book chapters across a range of subjects around economics and development.

Prof. Akgüngör earned her PhD in Agricultural Economics at Michigan State University and was a Fulbright Scholar in Residence agt the University of Arkansas, Clinton School of Public Service, Little Rock, Arkansas.
