Jane S. Kang, MD, MS
Associate Professor of Medicine, Program Director, Rheumatology Fellowship, Columbia University Medical Center
Dr. Kang is Associate Professor of Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) and Fellowship Program Director in the Division of Rheumatology, and completed a Master of Science in Bioethics at Columbia University. In 2015, she was named an Ewig Clinical Scholar at CUMC for her work in teaching and education and received a Fellowship Training Award from the Rheumatology Research Foundation (RRF).
She was an elected member of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) Ethics and Conflict of Interest Committee, before being elected Chair of the committee in 2016. Recently as Chair, she updated and revised the ACR Code of Ethics and created Conflict of Interest Principles for volunteer leaders.
Dr. Kang has a longstanding interest in exploring and addressing industry interactions and industry funded research, and has been an invited speaker regarding ethical considerations in rheumatology research. In 2018, she received the Clinician Scholar Educator Award from the RRF which provides three years of grant funding for her project titled βAn Interactive, Case Based, Online Ethics Curriculum for Rheumatology Fellows: Issues in Industry Interactions and Industry Funded Trials.β
